The Facts About Thanksgiving

The holiday of thankfulness is just around the corner, and many college students are making their way back home to spend it with family and friends. Everybody has different traditions, values, and memories, so LTCL decided to investigate. We polled over 80 people about their Thanksgiving holiday, from favorite traditions to distance traveled. Some of their answers might surprise you!

1. Favorite Food

Thanksgiving dinner, sans turkey

When asked about their favorite Thanksgiving dish, the results were a bit different than you’d expect.

  • Turkey- 9.9%
  • Green Bean Casserole- 3.7%
  • Ham- 1.2%
  • Rolls- 2.5%
  • Cranberry Sauce- 6.2%
  • Pie- 12.3%
  • Mashed Potatoes and Gravy- 23.5%
  • Sweet Potatoes- 13.6%
  • Stuffing- 27.2%… The winner!

  • Elsewhere in the county- 11.1%

When asked if they do the same thing for Christmas every year, it was almost a 50/50 split! 48.1% of survey-takers said that they mix it up every year, while 51.9% stick to the same plan annually.
