Macklemore: The Heist

Releasing his first album at the tender age of seventeen, Macklemore has gained significant popularity over the course of these twelve years. Although, my music taste does not fall into the category of hip-hop, I have found his style unbelievably haunting. His lyrics are not the typical crass rap that I hear far too often on the radio, but instead uses his fame to shed light on real issues including drug use and consumerism. With a new album set to drop this October, Macklemore is already creating hype with his two released singles. His first single, “Same Love,” tackled the topic of homosexual relationships. His most recent single, which came out just a few days ago, “Thrift Shop,” took a more light-hearted vibe with an upbeat tempo. With his tour The Heist quickly approaching, I hope to get the chance to see him live!
