1. Blueberries

Blueberries are an amazing superfood- they help combat muffin top, keep your skin looking great and help maintain healthy hair. Blueberries have an antioxidant called Catechin, which can help burn fat-especially in the stomach area. They are also low in calories- only 83 calories per cup! Blueberries help fight free radicals, which cause skin damage and signs of aging. Add them to your pancakes or a smoothie.

2. Eggs

Eggs help manage weight AND keep hair looking great! The mix of fat and protein in eggs help you feel full longer, thus helping you avoid munching on snacks. Eggs also contain biotin, which helps hair grow strong and shiny. Make an omelet in the morning or eat a hard-boiled egg with your lunch.  We suggest using 1 full egg and a few egg whites. Although the yolk is packed with flavor, it is also high in calories. There is also protein in the whites which will provide you with a larger portion size while keeping calories down.

Interesting Fact: A whole egg can increase fat burning while the whites burn more calories via digestive action!

3. Turkey

Stay full and sleep better by eating more turkey. Turkey, like all meat, has high amounts of protein but is much lower in fat and calories than other alternatives so you will stay full and content without unneeded fats in your diet.  Turkey also helps the body release tryptophan which is a natural sleep aid produced by your body. Getting the right amount of sleep is just as crucial as your eating habits and eating turkey at night can help promote good sleep. Turkey can also help your hair become stronger, since hair is made of mostly protein! We suggest swapping ground beef for ground turkey and buying lean sliced turkey from your local deli for wraps and sandwiches.

4. Salmon

Salmon is quite the superfood- it can help you stay slim, smooth your skin, stay full longer and is a great protein alternative if you are not a big meat eater. Salmon is high in Omega-3 fatty acids, which will help sustain your overall health. Omega-3’s can even improve your mood, so if you’re feeling down try having salmon for your next meal. Try grilling it, topping a salad with it or being adventurous and trying it in sushi.

5. Nuts

Keep your lips from getting chapped by eating nuts! Nuts, especially walnuts, are high in Omega-3 fatty acids. These help speed up the creation of new skin cells, which helps combat lip chapping and cracking. Add some on top of oatmeal, munch on them for a snack or add some into whole wheat banana muffins if you have a sweet tooth. Nuts are one of the best proteins but they are high in calories so be cautious not to overdo it.
