1990’s Fashion

That’s right. “Freaks & Geeks” is popular on Netflix, Gwyneth Paltrow was voted People’s Most Beautiful Person, and Blink 182 is back together. This resurgence in the popularity of 1990’s staples can only mean one thing: grunge fashion! While it is shocking that nineties style is now considered “vintage,” the promise of flannels, jelly sandals, and high-waisted jeans is too exciting to ignore. Check out these trends from about twenty years ago (holy cow!) that are making a comeback.

Gwen Stefani rocked the pale pink during her No Doubt days. Now one of fashion’s leading ladies, Kelly Osborne, is sporting lilac locks.

Overalls

Winona Ryder had it all back in the 1990s: Johnny Depp, leading roles in blockbuster movies like “Beetlejuice” and “Edward Scissorhands,” and most importantly a snazzy pair of overalls. Now, Elsie Larson from the popular blog “A Beautiful Mess” shows off her modern day overalls style!

Grungy Layers

In “My So-Called Life,” Claire Danes’s sweet layered style landed her the sexy Jared Leto… and now the same style was recently featured in Yves Saint Laurent’s spring runway look.

Teenage Leo (who are we kidding… the best Leo!) made this style famous in the 1996 Baz Luhrmann adaptation of “Romeo + Juliet.” Nowadays, internet icon Rachael Finley/Anderson (wife of Blake Anderson of “Workaholics” fame), also known by followers as Steak, is rocking the sweet style formerly donned by grandpas on Hawaiian vacations.
