Hollywood is down-to-get-down; at least recently that seems to be the case. More celebrity women, married or not, are pregnant, and this week, four women brought their spawn into the world. The number is not the shocking part; it’s the names chosen.
The new babies welcomed into Hollywood this week were named delightfully normal names. Say it ain’t so!
I have to be honest here, finding out what celebrities name their babies is one of my guilty pleasures; forget chocolate, forget wine, hand me a People Magazine and I’ll be set.
In the past, here have been names in Hollywood such as, Pilot Inspektor (Jason Lee), Bluebell Madonna (Geri Halliwell – Ginger Spice), Blue Ivy (Beyonce), Sage Moonblood (Sylvester Stallone), etc.
There’s a saying: What’s in a name? I’d say that question should be asked to the celebrities that are allowed to name their own children something that strange.
But my celebrity baby obsession doesn’t stop with the unusual names, along with the pregnancies, there comes the celeb post-baby slim downs and of course the twitpic of the child.
Unfortunately for me and the rest of the world that has this weird curiosity, the week of August 25 has had no baby pictures or odd names. Talk about a tease.
1. Anna Faris – Jack
Anna Faris had her baby boy last Saturday. I know I’m not the only one surprised by this. Not only did the media underplay her marriage, they only briefly mentioned she was preggers. Can’t say I blame them, when I think celebrity, Anna Faris doesn’t exactly jump out first.
But according to the most reliable source in celebrity news, People Magazine, she is married and was pregnant.
Husband Chris Pratt, 33, and Faris, 35, had son Jack earlier than expected and he was spending some time in the NICU. Maybe that’s why I didn’t realize she was pregnant – she didn’t give us a full nine months to catch on to the news. Pratt and Faris have been married since 2009.
2. Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi – Lorenzo Dominic
Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi, 24, best known for her stint as the whiney orange meatball on Jersey Shore, officially procreated Sunday. Yes, there is a new little guido on our hands, and if he’s anything like his mom, he will be an embarrassment to all Italians.
Lorenzo “Enzo” Dominic LaVelle was born weighing 6 lbs, 5 oz. reported MTV.
I don’t know if we should celebrate this event – for we can now all criticize Snooki’s mothering skills or if we should completely question what is wrong in a world where we care that she is having a baby. Either way, I look forward to pictures of the mom doing something completely un-mom-worthy.. I don’t think that’s too outrageous of a thought.
As exhilarating it will be to wait for a screw up, I do wish Snooki the best with parenting and the ability to mature with the task. Good luck!
3. Giuliana Rancic – Edward Duke
Bill and Giuliana Rancic welcomed their first child via surrogate Wednesday Aug. 29.
Edward Duke Rancic was born at 10:12 p.m. in Colorado. Both parents were in the delivery room where Bill cut the umbilical cord and Giuliana first held the baby, the couple told E! News.
The Rancics, Giuliana best known for her celebrity reporting on E! News and Bill for winning The Apprentice, had to use surrogate after miscarriage, infertility and a breast cancer diagnosis. The couple’s struggles were all documented on their reality show, Giuliana & Bill.
“The ‘Duke’ has landed! Edward Duke Rancic was welcomed into the world last night at 7 lbs., 4 oz.,” Bill tweeted. “G & I feel blessed beyond words…We did it!”
I must say, I feel a sense of accomplishment for them. How exciting after such struggles to finally welcome a baby in this world. Congrats Giuliana and Bill!
4. Tori Spelling – Finn Davey
Tori Spelling was the fourth celeb to have a baby this week.
Finn Davey McDermott was born Thursday, Aug. 30, at 5:39 p.m. According to People, he weighed in at 6 lbs., 6 oz., and was 20-inches long.
Alright, so Spelling, famous for starring in Beverly Hills, 90210 (the original), was pregnant– big shock there. Since marrying Dean McDermott in 2006, Spelling has done nothing but continue to be pregnant.
Spelling, 39, and McDermott, 45, are already parents to Liam, 5, Stella, 4, and Hattie, 10 months.
In case any of you need my journalistic talents in math, that means one month after giving birth to Hattie, Spelling and McDermott were pregnant again. Talk about close in age.
So in recap, none of the four births this week were as exciting as they could have been. One of the mothers didn’t even get fat (surrogate), none of the babies were given odd names and even worse yet, of the four, I’d say Giuliana is the most famous – at least the most respectably famous celebrity. Sorry Snooks.
Regardless of the lack of excitement in these births, I am glad all the little bundles of joy were healthy babies. And congrats to all the families! I look forward to following all the milestones of the tiny boogers as celebrity gossip magazines update us all.
What your take on all the celebrity babies? I personally can’t wait to see how they grow up. What do you think?
